Bread Challenge 1

This is the very first bread recipe I tried, it was not a success unfortunately, but was a good learning process. I have since researched and tried on few more recipes and found some I am happy with (will talk about these on other posts). This recipe calls for mashed potato, which resembles a lot of doughnut recipes which claims they will turn out soft and stay so until the next day. This is the main reason I am giving this a try to find out for myself if it is true.

I can’t remember where I got this recipe from, it was definitely from a blogger’s recipe. I think why it was not successful mainly due to the fact I didn’t knead the dough long enough (I didn’t own a food processor so I just knead with my hands) and added too much flour to it thinking it was too sticky. The bread came out edible but it was not as I would have expected,  they are quite hard on the next day.

Here is the recipe I used:

  • 1 kg bread flour
  • 200 gr mashed potato
  • 150 gr sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 200 gr butter
  • 2 sachet of yeast (@ 7 gr)
  • 300 ml warm milk
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • dash of vanilla
  • some extra milk for milk wash

Mix yeast with warm milk and let aside. Combine all other ingredients into a food processor and mix well. Once it is all mixed, cover with cling wrap and set aside for about 1 hour. After about one hour, the dough should be double its original size, divide it to portions, and they are ready to be baked after milk wash. You can add some filling to each of the bun, for example chocolate spreads or any favourite jams.

I tried just half of the recipe and I also added a dash of pandan flavouring to the warm milk, as for the filling I have used chocolate paste.

I left my ♥heart♥ in Bali – Where did we stay

We went for another holiday to Bali in November. This time, we split our stay to two areas, in Ubud and Seminyak. This time, I was finally able to book us rooms in the famous Tegal Sari hotel, a small boutique resort-like accommodation just at the end of Monkey Forest street. It truly is as what people say on TripAdvisor, a very budget-friendly yet super comfortable, top service, extreme clean rooms, and very relaxing place. We booked two super deluxe rooms, one of which is super deluxe wooden room. We were too excited when we got here and somehow we just forgot to take more photos of the interior of the rooms (scold myself redface)

In Seminyak, we tried out the two bedroom pool villa at Amadea Resort & Villas. I’d say the location is perfect on Kayu Aya, which can be said as the main hub of Seminyak with plenty of restaurants/cafes open till very late and shops around the district. The villa itself in term of size is HUGE, consists of two separate buildings, one is the master bedroom and the other is a two-storey building where ground floor is kitchen/dining/living area and second bedroom on top-level. The only complain we had would just be the open bathroom being the entry ways for many mozzies.

The housekeeper team made cute origami towels every time they cleaned the villa. These cute towel origami are something we were looking forward to come back to our room everyday just to find out what we got for the day. Below are some of the cutest ones that we remembered to document 🙂
